How does Bulgaria adopting the Euro affect me?

Bulgaria will adopt the Euro as a currency on January 1, 2026. This means that the current local currency, the Bulgarian Lev (BGN), will be discontinued. If you have questions about this process and the dates relevant to these changes, you can find the answers below.

From November 27, 2025, sending BGN won't be possible

We rely on payment partners to provide local payment capabilities (transfers in BGN). Given this, we need to align dates of the discontinuation of our BGN bank transfer services with our partners.

Your existing BGN beneficiaries will be converted to EUR, and you won't be able to create new BGN ones. You'll only be able to receive BGN bank transfers until December 10, 2025. You can make BGN card transfers until December 17, 2025. Scheduled payments will be cancelled.

You can still use your card to top up, make purchases, and withdraw money in BGN until December 31, 2025. These transactions will be automatically converted to EUR, through your EUR Pocket, before being completed. These conversions will be at the fixed exchange rate, with no additional fees.

BGN Pockets will be closed on December 17, 2025

Your Lev account will be closed on December 17, 2025, and any remaining Lev balance you hold will be converted to Euro on this date. If you don't already have an EUR Pocket, one will be created automatically.

All regular fees — such as subscription plan fees and transaction services — will be charged in Euros instead of Lev from December 17, 2025. You won't be charged any additional exchange fees as a result of this currency change.
