How to make cash deposits
What if I don't see the option?
The cash deposit feature is currently unavailable for some customers due to internal security measures. Unfortunately, we can't provide specific details or manually make the feature available to you.
We're working on providing alternative ways to deposit cash to your Revolut account in the future and will notify you as soon as they are available.
How to deposit cash
- Go to 'Home' on the bottom menu
- Tap Add money
- Enter the amount
- Under the amount, choose your payment method
- Set the currency to GBP
- Select 'Deposit cash'
- Add the cash amount you wish to deposit
- View the fee and select 'Generate barcode'
Follow the instructions at your chosen retailer, stating you wish to deposit cash via Paysafecash. You can only complete a Paysafecash top-up at the WHSmith self-checkout if you don't have other items in the basket.
Your barcode will be valid for 30 minutes, but you can always get a new one. If you want to change the amount, tap 'See barcode' from your Home screen and 'Cancel deposit'. Follow the steps again to generate a new barcode.
Fees, limits, and timeframes
All cash deposits will incur a 1.5% fee. Cash deposits are limited to:
- £500 per deposit
- £750 per calendar day
- £2250 per calendar month
- £10000 per calendar year
The funds usually take 8 to 10 minutes to appear on your Revolut account. However, in some cases it may take up to 30 minutes.
Helpful tips
- You'll get a warning if your deposit amount is below the minimum or above the maximum
- You can only deposit GBP
- You'll need to have version 9.15 or higher of the Revolut app installed on your device to use this feature
- Your barcode can be easily accessed from your 'Home' screen
- Be sure to get your deposit receipt from the cashier
- We currently don't support deposits made outside your country of residence
