Glossary of onboarding terms
Restricted investor
You are considered a restricted investor if in the past 12 months you've invested less than 10% of your net assets in high-risk investments, and in the next 12 months you intend to invest less than 10% of your net assets in high-risk investments.
High-net-worth individual
You're considered a high-net-worth individual if you've earned more than £100,000 in the past 12 months, and/or have net assets of more than £250,000.
High-risk investments
For the purpose of this statement, high-risk investments are:
- Peer-to-peer (P2P) loans
- Investment-based crowdfunding
- Unlisted debt and equity (such as in companies not listed on an exchange like the London Stock Exchange)
Net assets
For the purpose of categorising, 'net assets' refers to the total value of things like savings, investments. It doesn't include your home (primary residence), your pension (or any pension withdrawals), or any rights under qualifying contracts of insurance.
Income
You can include salary such as money/earnings from employment or self-employment, UK company dividends, savings and investments income profit from a property you own or rent out in the UK.
Income doesn't include any one-off pension withdrawals.
