Authorised Push Payment fraud reimbursement exclusions
The following cases won't be accepted for Authorised Push Payment (APP) reimbursements:
- First-party fraud: If you intentionally engage in fraud or work directly with the fraudster — including if you've lied or misrepresented your circumstances for financial gain — you won't be reimbursed
- International payments: Any payment made overseas to an account held outside of the UK won't be eligible for reimbursement
- Receiving accounts in control of the customer: Payments you've made to another account that you control won't be eligible for reimbursement. This includes any accounts you hold with crypto exchanges
- Card, cash, or cheques: Any payments made by cards or with cash or cheques won't be eligible for reimbursement
- Civil disputes: Any payment made to a genuine retailer or business where you aren't happy with the product or service you've received
- Investments: Any payment made as an investment that isn't deemed to be fraudulent
- Credit unions: Any payments made to a credit union, municipal bank, or national savings bank
