Do I have to pay for my trip using my Revolut account?
To be covered by your travel insurance with Revolut, you must use your Revolut account to pay for at least 75% of your primary transport and accommodation expenses, and your Metal or Ultra plan must be active at the time of booking your trip.
To successfully pay with your Revolut account and be eligible for cover, you can use your Revolut card or use a transfer from your Revolut account to the merchant, or person you're paying, to make payment. If you're using a transfer, make sure to confirm the merchant's account details with them first to make sure your payment goes to the right account.
What does primary transport mean?
Primary transport is the main means of travel to your destination. This doesn't include transfers to and from the primary means of travel e.g. for a trip from the UK to Spain, the flights and accommodation must be paid using your Revolut account, but the taxi transfers between the airport and your accommodation don't have to be paid using your Revolut account.
I booked my trip before 25 July 2024. Is my trip covered?
Yes, trips booked before 25 July 2024 are covered by travel insurance for Metal and Ultra account holders. You don't need to comply with the new eligibility rules regarding trip length or payment with your Revolut account, as these conditions weren't in place at the time of your booking.
What if I don't have any accommodation costs?
If you don't have any accommodation expenses during your trip (e.g. you are staying with a friend or family member), you will be covered. However, at least 75% of your primary transport costs must have been paid with your Revolut account.
Am I covered if I only paid some of my costs with Revolut?
No, you must use your Revolut account to pay for at least 75% of your combined primary transport and accommodation expenses in order to be covered.
Someone else booked the trip or I'm travelling in a group
You'll need to provide proof of payment for the trip from your Revolut account. This can include a Revolut card payment or transfer from you to the trip organiser for your primary transport and accommodation costs.
