Cover for Car Hire Excess
This coverage does not replace vehicle insurance. This protection covers the excess or damage liability fee for stolen or damaged rental cars when travelling, with a limit of £2000.
Along with the conditions set out in the policy wording, you must meet the following criteria to be covered by Car Hire Excess Protection:
- Your name must be on the rental agreement, and it must be signed by yourself
- You must take reasonable care to protect the rental car and avoid an accident or collision which may cause damage
- You must have purchased at least the most basic CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) coverage offered by the rental company
- Your Revolut Metal or Ultra plan must have become effective prior to the start of the rental car agreement
Key exclusions:
- You violate the rental car agreement, including if someone who isn’t named as a driver on the agreement drives the hired car
- You've leased or rented a car for, 31 consecutive days or longer
- You admit liability, make payment or offer or promise to make any payment without written consent from the insurer
- Mechanical breakdown or wear and tear of a rental car
- You rent a vehicle type that's excluded from cover
You don’t have to use your Revolut account to pay for the car rental to be eligible for cover, unless it is your primary method of transport to your holiday destination. To learn more about what you need to pay for with Revolut, read this FAQ.
If you're eligible for cover, you can raise a claim directly with the insurance provider in-app. Learn more in this FAQ.
