Cover for sports and activities
If you (or your insured travelling companions) choose to take part in any activities during your trip and something goes wrong, you'll be covered under the travel insurance policy.
Not all activities are covered, and some activities have specific requirements to ensure you are covered.
Examples of covered activities include:
- Canoeing, kayaking, sailing, or yachting - as long as you travel less than 12 nautical miles
- Cycling (not BMX or mountain biking)
- Trekking, hiking, or hill walking (up to max 1,000m above sea level and once guides or ropes aren't needed)
- Motorcycling (up to 125cc) - you must wear a crash helmet if you’re in control of the bike and have a full UK motorcycle licence
- Safari (only professionally organised camera safaris)
- Skiing or snowboarding (you must be accompanied by a qualified guide if you go off-piste)
If the activity you want to participate in is not listed in your policy wording or is excluded, you will not be covered if you are injured while doing the activity.
Key exclusions:
- The activity is the main reason for your trip, except for winter sports activities
- You do not follow all local laws, regulations, and guidelines
- You do not use any recommended safety equipment
- You are taking part in any competitions, races, or practising for speed or time trials
- You are participating in an activity as a professional
- A doctor has advised you against participating in the activity
