How does spending overseas work with my credit card?
We offer both debit and credit cards, so you can choose the option that best suits your needs. Regardless of which type of card you use, you can always enjoy competitive Revolut exchange rates. Each card offers unique benefits to help you manage your spending:
Using your debit card
- Add money to your Revolut account before you spend
- Exchange Australian dollars for eligible foreign currencies at any time, and hold them in different currency wallets. This lets you 'lock in' the exchange rate in advance before you spend
Using your credit card
- If approved, you'll get a credit limit which lets you spend first, and repay later
- Enjoy up to 44 days interest-free on your purchases
- You'll earn a higher RevPoints rate on credit card spending compared to debit
- No need to exchange ahead of time. When you spend abroad, we automatically convert your transactions to AUD at the time of purchase, and you’ll still benefit from competitive Revolut exchange rates
Fees
Your credit and debit cards have the same fair usage allowance, keeping your travel spending simple to track in one place. Depending on your plan, a fair usage fee or weekend fee may apply to some instances.
